Overview

Surgical oncology department is well equipped for super specialty service in head and neck oncology, breast reconstructive surgery, thoracic, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, urology, gynaecology and bone and soft tissue tumours.

Surgical oncology O.P.D. on an average handles more than 200 patients every day out of which about 50% are new cancer patient and rest are for regular follow up. Most of these patient is from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and nearest areas of Rajasthan and few from distance states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh

In addition to being pioneer in the field of surgical oncology in our region the vast experience over major and minor surgical procedure every year has brought an unmatched excellence to the department.

MAJOR PROCEDURES

1. Head & Neck Surgeries

Oral Cavity Cancer-Enbloc excision _RND,

Larynx-Partial/Total +Reconstruction Laryngectomy +Reconstruction

Thyroid Cancer-Total Thyroidectomy

Hemi thyroidectomy

Reconstruction Surgeries in Head & Neck Cancer

Local Flaps- Advancement Flap, Rotational Flap, Nasolabial Flap, Tounge Flap

Loco regional Flaps- Pectoralis major mucocutaneous flap, Deltopectoral Flap, Para scapular flap, latissimus dorsi flap, Forehead Flap, Pectoral’s Osteomyocutaneous flap.

Distant/Microvascular Flap- Fibula Osteomyocutaneous flap, Radical Forearm artery free flap, Anterio Lateral Thigh Myocutaneous Free Flap.

2. Eyes

Retinoblastoma- enucleation of eye Balls

3. Breast cancer

Breast conservative surgery, MRM, MRM+ Flap reconstruction

4. Thoracic Cancer

Thoracotomy with Excision of mediastinal tumour mass

5. Abdomen

Esophagus- Transhiatal Esophagectomy+ Gastric Pull up, Stomach-Distal/Partial/Total gastrectomy with upto D-2 resection, Small Bowel-Resection along with mesentery and anastomosis.

6. Large Bowel

Hemicolectomy, Total colectomy, Sigmoidectomy, Anterior resection, Low anterior resection, Ultra Low anterior resection (Sphincter preservative), APR. – Hepatobiliary –Lap cholecystectomy, Radical cholecystectomy, Whipple’s Surgery, Open cholecystectomy, Bile duct exploration and reconstruction

7. Urinary

Radical Nephrectomy, Radical cystectomy along with urinary division procedure (continent/incontinent), TURP, TURBT

8. Genital

Penectomy Total, Penectomy partial along with Uni/Bilateral inguinal LN dissection, High inguinal orchiectomy with or without Retroperitoneal LN dissection, Bilateral orchiectomy (For castration)

9. Sarcoma

Wide excision with reconstruction either with skin grafting or Flap

10. Orthopaedic

Limb sparing surgery, Amputation, Disarticulation

11. Vascular Disease

Bilateral/Unilateral sympathectomy

DAY CARE & MINOR PROCEDURE: -

Head and Neck: – Micro laryngeal surgery, Tracheostomy (elective/emergency), Incision Biopsy, Excision Biopsy, Punch Biopsy, FNAC –US guided.
Breast Cancer: -Core Needle Biopsy, FNAC, Excision Biopsy, Incision Biopsy, Lumpectomy.
Thoracic Cancer: -Plemal Fluid Aspiration, Intercostal Chest Tube Drainage, FNAC (Radiologic Guidance).
Abdomen: – Peritoneal Drain, Feeding Jejunostomy /Gastrostomy, Esophageal Stenting.
Hepatobiliary: -PTBD, Bile duct stenting, Pigtail Catheter Drainage of Liver Abscess.
Urinary: -PCN, SPC, Cystoscopy, Cystoscopic Biopsy

ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURE: -

- Upper GI Endoscopy- Biopsy, Brush Cytology, Stenting, Esophageal Dilation
- Lower GI Endoscopy- Biopsy, Brush Cytology
- Direct Laryngoscopy – DL/DP, Biopsy, Brush Cytology
- Bronchoscopy with Flexible Optic Fibre Scope- Biopsy, Brush Cytology, Broncho Alveolar Lavage
