Blood utilization is optimised by separating blood into its various components like platelet concentrate, red cell concentrate, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate by automated component extractor under sterile & closed environment.
Our Transfusion Medicine unit is licensed by Drug Controller General India and follows stringent quality control practices that include testing of a defined number of units of each product for the appropriate parameters
Our transfusion services also lay great emphasis on donor care and strictly follows donor selection to ensure quality of blood collected. The department is equipped with latest & automated immuno-haematological testing equipment’s used for diagnosis and testing compatibility of the blood.
We practice all of this with the slogan of “Service with Smile” in a pleasant ambience through extremely well trained and courteous staff.
Donate Blood
It is a fact that there are absolutely no substitutes to replace human blood. Henceforth, it is the blood donated by eligible donors which enables us to store sufficient blood inventory for the patients needing it. The donors can donate their whole blood, platelets & granulocytes by Apheresis technology. Both the procedures whole blood donation & Apheresis are completely safe.
Collected whole blood is further separated into various blood components such as packed Red blood cells (PRBC), platelet concentrates (RDPs), Fresh frozen plasma (FFP) & Cryoprecipitate for the transfusion to the patients as a part of blood component therapy which plays a vital role to support various medical procedures and treatment protocol.
Patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment (medical treatment for patients suffering from cancer) are quite frequently infused with PRBC & platelet concentrates (RDPs) in order to maintain hemoglobin level & minimize the risk of bleeding.
Blood Bank, CHRI encourages blood donations for 18-65 years of age who are active and healthy. Our Medical Officer & Staff will do a brief screening and routine physical & medical examination before taking the blood samples, which includes taking height, weight, temperature, pulse, blood pressure and Haemoglobin readings. The whole blood donation procedure only takes 20-30 minutes. Therefore, “Donate Blood & Save Lives”.
